I've been very hesitant about making this goal, due to my constant back and forth ever since I was younger regarding this surgery.. but the time has come and I need to get it. I have a very bad overbite (as I'm sure, many, many have noticed and I get constant comments on) this affects how I eat, how I sleep, how I talk, etc. I get chronic headaches from this, as well as many other issues. On top of the medical issues, this is something I've been self conscious about my entire life. This surgery is a very long, and intense process. I start with braces for about a year, surgery which will put me out of cam for 1-2 months while I start to heal, as my jaw is wired shut for 2 weeks; as well as a lot of swelling. This is a very intense surgery, that changes my facial structure, my voice, and much more. For the past 2 years I have gotten chin injections to help with my chin, but this doesn't fix the underlying issue and medical issues that surgery is needed for. I've been in the process of talking to many ortho surgeons, and this is something that I need to get while I'm in my early 20's. Insurance sadly sees this as a cosmetic surgery only, and will not pay for anything - it's all coming out of pocket. This is an on going goal that I'm going to keep for anyone that wants to contribute. Thank you for supporting me, and if you read this. I know me having braces will be a big change, I'm already self conscious thinking about it, I know this all will be a big change but I know those of you who care will stick with me through these intense changes. So far I only have the goal set to the braces funds and maybe a bit more - will probably add more as the time comes. The surgery will not happen for another year, but braces will need to be on for that whole time before and some time after.
