I love people. I enjoy helping people. One of my lifetime goals, for as long as I can remember, has been to travel to a lower income country and teach English. I have worked really hard to help make this dream of mine a possibility. I have recently completed my certificate for teaching English as a second language from my local university. I currently volunteer teaching English to a group of Ukrainian immigrants in our community through our multicultural association as well as to refugee children in our school district. I have recently gotten laid off from my day job. It caught me off guard as I have never lost a job and took it very personal. I know that it wasn’t personal, but sometimes I think my heart is too big and the corporate world can swallow up a person like me. I feel that this might be the only opportunity that I have to travel and volunteer for a few weeks without having to worry about a job. Please, please, please, if you can donate ANYTHING, even one token to help make this possible for me I would be forever thankful and so will the children that you will be helping. This money will not only help me with flight and accommodations but it will also help me buy much-needed supplies for the children and their classrooms.
