AND GOD MADE ME WOMAN

And God made me a woman,
with long hair,
eyes,
a woman’s nose and mouth.
With curves
and folds
and soft hollows...
and He hollowed me out within,
making me a workshop for human beings.
He wove my nerves with delicacy
and carefully balanced
my hormone levels.
He composed my blood
and infused it into me
so that it might flow
throughout my body;
thus were born ideas,
dreams,
instinct.
He created everything with tenderness...
with breaths of life
and waves of love...
the thousand and one things that make me a woman each day,
for which I rise with pride
every morning
and bless my womanhood.

Y Dios me hizo mujer,
con cabello largo,
ojos,
nariz y boca de mujer.
Con curvas
y pliegues
y suaves cavidades...
y me ahuecó por dentro,
haciéndome un taller para seres humanos.
Tejió mis nervios con delicadeza
y equilibró cuidadosamente
mis niveles hormonales.
Compuso mi sangre
y la infundió en mí
para que fluyera
por todo mi cuerpo;
así nacieron las ideas,
los sueños,
el instinto.
Creé todo con ternura...
con alientos de vida
y oleadas de amor...
las mil y una cosas que me hacen mujer cada día,
por las que me levanto con orgullo
cada mañana
y bendigo mi condición de mujer.
