The sun in rising for my second day here, and I am jet-lagged AF.. go figure..
So I thought I would take the time to document the things we did and saw during our first day!

I woke up promptly at 5am, and was eager to start the day. We had quite the agenda! The day began officially at 8:45AM, where our helicopter tour was set to begin. We left a small heliport and because our cruise towards Mt Fuji. We were lucky to have such a clear day, and saw the majestic mountain in all its glory without any haze or clouds to diminish our views. We flew in an R44 (the same heli I fly) so I felt right at home. I could make out maaaaybe 25% of the radio calls. I think it was a mixture of English/Japanese. But I did hear tower warn us of a few aircrafts, and I did my duties and helped the pilot spot the traffic as best I could. He looked over and said "are you pilot too?" "YES I AM OMG THANKS FOR NOTICING " was what I wanted to say.. but I just kept my cool and said "Yes, I am" as cool and collected as I could. ;)
We then cruised over downtown and saw the famous sky line briefly before making our way back in. 70 mins that went by way too fast!

Sasha napped in the afternoon. I did not. I should have.
Then we dolled ourselves up and headed to the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The Sakura season is nearly over, but thankfully, we managed to catch the tail end of it and enjoy the romantic strolls beneath the famous cherry blossoms. We stayed until the park closed and we were essentially, escorted out. We didn't want to leave! It was indescribably beautiful!
Before I move on.. I should mention, we have been taking the Japanese Railways, which is said to be the most complicated railway system in the world. I would 100% agree with whomever made this assumption.  Though we lacked time and at some points grace, we managed to make our stops and changes.

We got back to our hotel around 7pm, and had an hour until we left for Robot Restaurant.
Again, I should have napped.
Again, I did not.

After another battle with the railways, we exited the station in the heart of Shibuya City. It was PACKED. We crossed the roads with hundreds of people at a time. It was initially very overwhelming, especially when our GPS stopped wanting to work.
We stumbled in 2 mins before the doors shut. Just in time.
Now we would enjoy being served delicious food by robots! ...Or so we thought... we failed to do adequate research on what this "must see attraction" really was, and were a little surprised when the massive float/robots because going back and forth and essentially, a musical/theatre took place in front of us! It was not what we had expected, but certainly a spectacle that you could only enjoy in Japan!

We left the 90 min show and proceeded back to the railway system (about 1/2 mile walk from the show). The way back was of course, 1000X harder to navigate after a long day and a ton of stimulation and loud music. So we ended up on a train route that would have us walk about 1mile back to our hotel after we exited the two trains... but we made it :)

Amazing first day on the books and now that it is 5:20am, I should try and sleep! Today will be much more low key. But we do have 1 exciting experience planned for later today! Stay tuned!

XOXO
Aspen
